Futures trading has transactional costs: exchange fees, regulatory fees, and commissions. These vary by product and contract type and apply to every trade. Orders are routed through our Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) partner, Plus500.

Frequently asked questions

Are there any platform or routing fees?

No. Topstep Brokerage does not charge additional platform or routing fees. The only transaction costs are the commissions, exchange fees, and regulatory fees as outlined above.

What happens if my position is automatically liquidated?

If your account falls below the Firm required minimum or your position breaches established margin or risk thresholds, it may be automatically liquidated. In that case, a $10 liquidation fee per contract will apply.

However, trader-defined risk management settings in TopstepX can be set to trigger a market order to flatten a position. The risk management liquidations do not incur a fee. You are still subject to a $10 liquidation fee per contract if your risk management settings are set to a higher risk threshold than the Firm’s or established requirements.

Do fees vary by exchange?

Yes, and exchange fees vary by product and contract type. This includes whether the contract is standard, mini, or micro. You can view a full fee breakdown by product and exchange here.
